YSRC poll symbol still a mystery

The vacation bench of the High Court on Thursday posted to next week hearing on a petition filed by the YSR Congress seeking a direction to the Election Commission to allot “Ceiling Fan” as its election symbol for the byelections.

Party secretary Bajireddy Govardhan, in his petition, complained that EC had failed to dispose of the application submitted on March 30 for grant of “ceiling fan” as its election symbol. The bench sought a reply from the Election Commission.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the contesting candidates of YSR Congress were entitled to get “ceiling fan” as their election symbol as per Clause 12 (3)(a) of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968.
