YSR relative held in cheating case

Marreddy Rajasekhar Reddy, 50, a distant relative of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was arrested in a cheating case related to a land dispute. The accused, a resident of Mahendra Hills is a builder and owns Bhagyasri Builders. He is charged with fraudulently selling the land belonging to Praga Tools Cooperative Housing Society at Hasmathpet. According to Alwal inspector B. Pushpan Kumar a case of cheating was booked against him based on court directions after a complainant P. Srinivas approached it.

“The society and Bhagyasri Builders represented by Rajasekhar Reddy signed an MoU in 2008 over 12 acres of disputed land. As per the MoU, Rajasekhar Reddy had to construct 230 flats for the society members after clearing the dispute. Later, with the consent of the society members he could sell the remaining land,” said Pushpan. However, violating the MoU the accused sold 1,400 square yards of land for Rs 1.08 crore to one Premsagar in 2011. “The accused sold the land without the consent of the society and didn’t even fufil the MoU conditions. He didn’t construct the flats,” said Pushpan Kumar.
The accused was remanded to judicial custody and shifted to Cherlapally jail on Monday.
