Dr P V Parahbrahma Sastry, well known Epigraphist and Dy Director (Retd), Department of Archeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the website for comprehensive History and Culture of Andhra Pradesh in the Seminar Hall of Centre for Good Governance, here today. The project, launched in 1998, has so far published four volumes in English and Telugu and the remaining four are in the pipeline. Support for the first volume was received from Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi and the Dravidian University, Kuppam and for the rest of the volumes from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University.
Dr P V Parabrahma Sastry explained the various problems relating to writing the history of Andhra Pradesh and congratulated the Committee producing the volumes and appreciated Centre for Good Governance for coming forward to open the website.
Dr Phani Kumar, Director, Centre for Good Governance, spoke at length on the need for such websites and suggested that rare books in Telugu and English of History and Culture of Andhra Pradesh should be digitalized and made available to public through present website. He assured the Comprehensive History Project Committee that he would extend full cooperation in enlarging the website by incorporating all the rare books including the volumes to be made into e-books.
