Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu has reacted on violence that erupted in Karnataka over Cauvery dispute after Supreme Court ordered to release 12000 cusec of water from Cauvery river to Tamil Nadu.
Venkaiah said, SC has given direction after listening to both States.If still there are any issues, leadership of both States could discuss the same. Violence in Karnataka & Tamilnadu over Cauvery waters quite disturbing. This can’t be justified on any ground.Such violence and destruction of property negates the rule of law and ultimately impacts the life of common man.
People have been making significant contribution to the development of states of their choice of living;shouldn’t be made to feel insecure. He fervently appealed to the people of both the States to immediately stop indulging in violence and ensure peace and normalcy . He urged the media to exercise restraint in reporting on the incidents happening in both the states.
While Karnataka CM Sadananda Gowda told not to blame people of Karnataka as they the are ones who don’t have water and alleged that people of Tamilnadu are provoking Kannadigas.
Yesterday at KPN bus depot in Bangalore,56 buses were set on fire and curfew was imposed in 16 areas in the city.
