Telangana Congress Monitoring Group Chairman and APCC General Secretary G Niranjan today appealed Union Minister Vayalar Ravi to take an early decision on the Telangana statehood issue. Talking to media persons after meeting Vayalar Ravi, who arrived here to assess by-poll strategy in view of ensuing by-elections to be held in 18 assembly constituencies and to Nellore Lok Sabha seat at Gandhi Bhavan, he said the decision on Telangana State demand was important for reviving the party position in the region.
He said he also appealed Mr Ravi to take steps to fill the posts of all District Congress Committees (DCC) across the state to improve party’s performance in the ensuing by-elections. Former PRP’s GHMC (Grater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) President and Congress leader Feroz Khan lodged a complaint with Vayalar Ravi over not filling of party posts by PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana since the merger of Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) into the Congress.
The erstwhile PRP leaders’ morale had been affected at all levels as the Congress had failed to fill up the party’s nominated posts, he said. If the PCC and the Chief Minister failed to take steps in filling of nominated posts, he opined, the party would suffer a major debacle in the ensuing by-elections. APCC General Secretary Abed Rasool Khan, who also lodged a complaint with Mr Ravi, said some of minority leaders were switching over to other parties due to neglecting them by the party.
He appealed to Mr Ravi to do justice to minorities in the filling up of nominated posts while Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao hailed the party for taking ‘Medhomadanam’ on recent debacle of party in the by-elections held for seven Assembly segments.
The ‘Medhomadanam’ would benefit the party in the ensuing by-elections to be held for 18 assembly segments, he added.
