The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) which administers the world renowned Sri Venkateswara Temple has a strong Vigilance and Security to safeguard the temple and the millions of visiting pilgrims, Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CV & SO) GVG Ashok Kumar. Interacting with the media persons here today during his maiden press conference, the CV&SO said TTD had enough Security and Vigilance personnel apart from sophisticated arms and equipment.
‘We have to properly make use of this vast set up and strengthen our work force and concentrate on our capacity building,’ he said. Mr Kumar said that apart from sprucing up its security and vigilance set up, TTD will also maintain cordial relations with police department, APSP, AR and Octopus forces which are also playing a vital role in providing security cover to the temple and visiting pilgrims. The CV&SO said TTD is also pursuing with the government on its pending proposal to declare Vigilance Wing of TTD as a separate Police Station under Endowments Act to deal with petty crimes. Mr Kumar said he will also take steps to prevent red sanders smuggling activity in Tirumala. The CV&SO also said the security check up at Alipiri Toll Gate had also been strenghtened since last one week
