Stung by Vallabhaneni Vamsi’s meeting with YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy in full public view, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided to sack him from the party post. Vamsi, who is party’s urban unit president, was seen hugging Jagan when the latter was on his way to Vijayawada from Gannavaram on Friday.
Party disciplinary committee chairman Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary issued a terse show-cause notice to Vamsi on Saturday asking him to explain the reasons that forced him to meet the rival party leader. .
Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, who was touring Kadapa on Friday, is said to have fumed at Vamsi’s act and immediately directed Butchaiah Chowdary to issue a show-cause notice. However, even before waiting for a response from Vamsi, the TDP is believed to have decided to axe him from the party position and the same would be conveyed to him after he submits his reply.”The party does not need to put up with such saboteurs any longer. We have been suspicious about his activities for long. It is high time we get rid of such leaders,” observed a senior party leader in the district.
According to sources, the party got enough inputs from the local leaders indicating that Vamsi’s meeting with Jagan was completely planned and not accidental as being claimed by Vamsi. He, however, said that Jagan had invited him to join the YSR Congress but said that he had not accepted his invitation immediately. TDP sources however, conceded that it was a matter of time before Vamsi joined Jagan.
