Telangana State Celebrating Bathukamma Festival from Today onwards.
Thanks to smart marketing by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha, which has taken this floral festival, to cross boundaries of the region and traditional limits. Batukamma is part and parcel of Telangana culture and after 2014 it has been declared as a state festival.
Batukamma is Literally meaning ‘Mother of Life’, not a religious festival, but a festival of nature. Women gather and celebrate by worshiping the floral arrangements by singing songs and dancing around it. At the end of the ninth day on Durgashtami, these heaps of flowers are immersed in nearby ponds.
