Telangana issue continues to rock AP assembly
The Telangana row continued to rock the AP Assembly with a determined TRS and TDP besides other opposition members stalling the proceedings forcing speaker N Manohar to adjourn the house twice in the pre-lunch session. Despite repeated plea by the presiding officer the opposition members raised slogan in favour of the telangana statehood and urged the centre to pass a resolution to this effect immediately in the Parliament. While the Opposition members rushed to the well of the house immediately on resumption of the proceedings for the day forcing the chair to adjourn the house for a brief period, the second adjournment came after ten minutes of noisy scenes after the house resumed around 1030 hrs. In the first instance, Congress members from the Telangana region supported the demand by standing from their respective seats. However they did not join the protest when the house reassembled. Mr Manohar made repeated plea to the opposition members to go back to their seats and allow the proceedings to be held. He also expressed his anguish over the recent suicides of youths in support of the Telangana cause and offered his condolences to the bereaved families. He said people should restrain from such extreme steps as solutions could be found to problems through discussions and other means. With the opposition members persisting with their protest the house adopted an amendment Bill to the excise act on regularisation of trade in Indian Made Foreign Liquor. it also adopted the demands of six departments amidst noisy scenes.
