In a historic pact, Telangana and Maharashtra governments have signed a pact on the construction of five barrages and two projects across the Godavari and its tributaries-Penganga and Pranahita in Mumbai.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis signed three agreements in Mumbai .
First Agreement : Medigadda barrage of 100 meter height and 16 TMC storage that will irrigate 18.19 Lakh acres in 6 districts
Second Agreement: Tummadihatti barrage on Pranahita with a height of 148 metres and 1.8 TMC storage that will irrigate 2 Lakh acres in Adilabad district bordering Maharashtra.
Third Agreement : Chanaka-Korata barrage on Penganga river with 213 metre height and 0.85 TMC storage that will irrigate land in Maharashtra and Adilabad district.
The signing ceremony of Inter-State Irrigation Agreements held at Sahyadri Guest House in presence of Irrigation ministers of the two states and several cabinet colleagues .
