TDP lodges complaint against Cong, YSRC

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) that the Congress and YSR Congress parties were distributing money to electorate by directly crediting it in the bank accounts. In a letter to CEO Bhanwar Lal, TDP Politburo Member and Leader of the Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Dadi Veerabhadra Rao said “we received reliable information from the constituencies in which by-elections are to be held the leaders and functionaries of the both parties are collecting bank account numbers of DWCRA women Self Help Groups in the constituencies for depositing the amounts.” The parties were contemplating to distribute amount in large scale through the bank accounts and the action of the parties was nothing but ‘bribing’ and liable for action under section 171-B, 171-E of IPC and section 123(1) of RP ACt, 1951, the MLC said in his complaint. Mr Rao requested the CEO to direct all nationalised, private and rural banks not to allow deposits in bulk in the individual accounts of the DWCRA members in the banks situated in the constituencies in which by-elections are to be held June 12.
