TDP complaints CEO on violation of code of conduct by CM

The Telugu Desam Party today complained to the Chief Electoral Officer over violation of model code of conduct by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy by releasing funds from his discretionary grants for taking up works in areas where bypolls are to be held on June 12. A four-member TDP delegation headed by senior party legislator Muddu Krishnam Naidu submitted a representation to this effect to Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal here. The CEO later told newsmen that the Election Commission would look into the complaint. A copy of representation released to media stated, in order to influence the electorate in the constituencies for which by-polls are scheduled the Chief Minister had sanctioned funds. These works are deliberately planned to be given on nominations basis dividing them into parts to benefit the ruling party leaders and their followers in the poll going constituencies. The delegation also requested the Commission to direct the concerned officials to cancel tenders called for the works covered in the areas in which by-polls are to be held. The delegation consisted of TDP leaders–B Gopala Krishna Reddy (MLA), C A Revanth Reddy (MLA) and C M Ramesh (Rajya Sabha MP).
