TDP complains to CEO on YSCR for ‘telecasting paid news’

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today complained to Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Banwar Lal against YSR Congress Party ‘for telecasting paid news’ in ‘Sakshi’ Telugu News Channel, owned by Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, allegedly violating the Provisions of RP Act 1951, Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act 1995 and instructions of Election Commision of India.

The TDP, in its petition, claimed the channel was telecasting the paid news in the form of news, articles, reports, programmes and interviews. In a representaion submitted to CEO, a copy was which released to the media here, the TDP said the news channel was involved in malpractices since its inception to promote the family of its Chairman Jagan politically and denigrating his political opponents. During the last General Elections the TDP submitted several complaints to the ECI and CEO, on the paid news in the channel.
