The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday held a meeting with Kapu community leaders of Guntur at his residence and promised them that the party would give two MLA and one MLC seat to the community in the next election.
TDP has been making all out efforts to win in Tirupati, Rajampet, Anantapur, Rayachoti and Ramachandrapuram where Kapu and Balija communities hold the sway.
According to D Raja, Guntur Kapu leader, Naidu was scheduled to tour Macherla and Prathipadu tomorrow. Naidu who was originally scheduled to tour Guntur on Monday postponed it by a day. He said Naidu had told them to take up extensive campaign and explain to the community that TDP had given them 33 per cent seats in the by-election.
Replying to a question, Raja ruled out the possibility of party senior leader Umareddy Venkateswarulu leaving the party and join YSRCP.
He said, there was no such move and Umareddy would never quit TDP. It was only a propaganda by YSR Congress Party, he added. It may be mentioned here that recently, Umareddy had expressed his deep anguish and unhappiness over the manner in which the TDP had ignored him.
