Indian government has announced its official pick for Oscars 2017 in the Foreign Language Film category.
National Award winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed Tamil film “Visaranai” has been selected for Oscar after reviewing 29 films .
Out of the 29 movies in the competition , Jury chairperson of Film Festival of India (FFI) Ketan Mehta has selected this film.
The makers have tweeted , “We’re on cloud9!!! ‘Visaranai’ has been chosen to represent India at the Oscars.”
The film is about organised crime , based on the novel called “Lock Up” by auto-rickshaw driver-turned-writer , Produced by Dhanush.
