Sunayana Dumala faced deportation from US

Srinivas-Sunayana DumalaThe widow of an Indian man killed in Kansas in a suspected hate crime , faced deportation from US after losing resident status.

Republican congressman Kevin Yoder and others stepped in help Sunayana Dumala get a one-year visa so that she would not be deported from the US after losing her resident status.

Sunayana Dumala lost her US resident status after her husband Kuchibhotla was gunned down in a bar in Olathe, Kansas, on February 22, by a man due to hatred.

Srinivas was on an H1B visa, while Sunayana was on an H4 dependent visa. With the help of Yoder , she was granted a one-year visa to resume work at a marketing agency in Overland Park.

Srinivas (32) was killed and his friend Alok Madasani was injured when Adam Purinton, a white man shot them at the Austins Bar & Grill in Olathe, Kansas State on February 22.
