To commemorate the 604th Birth Anniversary of Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to celebrate the occasion by organising several cultural programmes at Tirupati, Tallapaka and Tirumala from May 6th to 8 in a grand manner, TTDs Annamacharya Project Director Dr Medasani Mohan said here today.
In a press release here, Dr Medasani said, “the unstinting devotion of Annamaiah for the Lord of Seven Hills with a pristine heart and his efforts to immortalise his ‘Bhakti’ through the composition of 32,000 songs in vernacular Telugu has made him ‘Padakavitha Pitamaha’ as they reached huge masses with its essence of inbuilt human values apart from its devotional outlook.” Following the Birth Anniversary celebrations, there will be Sapthagiri sankeerthana gosthi ganam, Srivari Kalyanam and Grama Sankeerthana in Tallapaka and unjal seva and other programmes in the evening at the 108feet statue of Annamaiah in Tallapaka, he said. TTD has also arranged free annaprasadam distribution in the afternoon after the Kalyanam. Similarly there are cultural and literary programmes in Tirupati and Tirumala also.
On the evening of May 6 there will special Annamacharya Sankeertana programmes on Nadaneerajanam plat form at Tirumala. Apart from this, the summer training classes in Annamaiah Sankeerthana will also commence across the country in 18 different cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Bhuvneshwar and Delhi besides Tirupati which will last for 15-days, he added. Meanwhile, on May 4 and 5, special programmes will be organized by TTD on the occasion of 282nd Birth Anniversary of Saint Poetess Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba at Tirupati, Tirumala and Tarigonda.
