Slamming the “political vendetta” and “attack on the freedom of press”, senior journalists and writers in Andhra Pradesh today condemned the state government and CBI’s action against Sakshi media owned by Kadapa Member of Parliament YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The CBI, which is investigating an alleged disproportionate assets case against Jagan, has frozen the bank accounts of Sakshi paper and TV and also another of Jagan’s company Janani Infrastructure.
The state government recently issued orders stopping advertisements to Sakshi media.
However, the AP high court passed an interim order suspending the government order. During today’s meeting, the journalists and writers alleged that the government and CBI are “stifling the freedom of press”.
