Bollywood’s most experienced and successful writers-duo, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar have filed a petition for copyrights of their script ‘Zanjeer’, which is being remade without their permission.
Although they’ve filed a case in court, they’re ready to resolve this issue outside the court.
“We are hopeful that this will be solved in friendly manner. We can still solve the issue by sitting across the table and coming to an understanding. If this didn’t work, we will proceed further legally,” said Javed Akthar, who quit script writing and became a fulltime lyricist.
Initially, producer approached the writers about this remake idea, but when the writers demanded a whopping amount as royalty, he backed out and case was filed on him.
Amit Mehra, son of Prakash Mehra, who produced and directed the 1973 version, is now trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible to ensure smooth shooting of the latest version of this movie.
The original zanjeer had Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, Pran, Ajit, Bindu in lead roles.
And now in latest version, Ram Charan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, Prakash Raj, Mahie Gill play those characters respectively.
Zanjeer is slated for 2013 summer release.
