Tamil film “Visaranai” has been selected as Indian government has announced its official pick for Oscars 2017 in the Foreign Language Film category.
According to latest buzz, Two Telugu movies were also in competition for OScar nomination. These two movies were Gunashekar’s Rudhramadevi and Krish’s Kanche.
Jury chairperson of Film Festival of India (FFI) Ketan Mehta reportedly watched both the film and were not selected as these films were not contemporary films. Buzz that The jury was in a view that the period film like Rudhramadevi and Kanche , which has a lot of philosophical and social touch mingled with love story before Independence, may not reflect the present India and win the Oscar for India.
However , These two were considered for Oscar screening at least by the jury .
