It was the time in 2003 when Gunashekar thought of making Rudhramadevi – the queen of Kakatiya dynasty, there were no takers for female centric film as the planned budget was Rs 25-crore. Even in 2012, prospects turned more bleak after Gunashekar ‘s Nippu starring Ravi Teja bombed at the box office .
Gunasekhar did not give up the cause, He took nearly a decade to develop the story by 2013, made many trips to the Kakatiya ruins and the 1000 pillar temple in Warangal to learn about Kakatiya architecture.
Gunashekar team also made a trip to the National Museum in Delhi to see crown of Prataparudra II to model one for Rudramadevi. With computer graphics , The movie budget has gone upto 75 crore in two years to make it India’s first historical 3D stereoscopic film .
Anushka plays the warrior queen Rudhramadevi , Rana Daggubati plays the lead while Allu Arjun plays an important character. The film will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
