Red star Madala Ranga Rao Passes away

rp_madala-288x300.jpgActor and producer Madala Ranga Rao (69) died of illness today. He is being treated at a private hospital in Hyderabad for the past few days.

Ranga Rao earned a name as Redstar with films like ‘Erramallalu’, ‘Viplava Shankam’, ‘Swarajyam’, ‘Erra Suryudu’, ‘Erra Pavuralu’, ‘Janam Manam’ and ‘Prajashakti’. In the 80s, when love stories was trend , Ranga Rao came with revolutionary films and earned success. He founded production house named Navataram Productions.

Ranga Rao, a native of Prakasam district Ongole, worked as an active member of the Public Natya Mandi. Prominent director T Krishna and producer Pokari Baburao are his equivalents. Madala Ranga Rao’s film ‘Yuvatharam Kadilindi’ in 1980 was awarded with a Gold Nandi Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. There are many films that reflect the social issues of corruption and oppression and Ranga Rao ‘left’ ideology.
