Rayapati to join TDP?
Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is once again angry with the Congress leadership. He was conspicuous by his absence at the Congress party review meeting of five districts – Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam and Warangal, held at the camp office of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday to work out the strategy for the next round of by-elections.
Apparently, Rayapati was angry with the appointment of minister Kanna Lakshminarayana as in-charge of Prathipadu assembly constituency in Guntur district for the by-elections. Rayapati has been strongly lobbying for his supporter P J Sudhakar Babu for the assembly seat.
According to indications available from Guntur, Rayapati is contemplating joining the Telugu Desam Party sooner or later.
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have sent feelers to Rayapati saying he would get good position in the party if he joined the TDP. At the same time, Rayapati has also kept his options open for joining YSR Congress party, provided he gets respect in that Reddy-dominated party.
