Sikh American, Ravi Bhalla became the first turbaned Sikh elected Mayor in New Jersey. He fought against discrimination and became a target of hate during his campaign. And now, as Hoboken Mayor, he is committed to fight for love and justice.
Bhalla of the Sikh community was elected as mayor to the city of Hoboken, in New Jersey. Ravinder won the election among six contestants. Some of the campaigners were campaigning him as a terrorist. Some of the racist posters were also posted. However, the people have voted for Ravi Bhalla.
Ravi Bhalla did not remove his turban even after 9/11 attacks although he was always being criticized. He said His first priority is schools and education , followed by roads and infrastructure.
