Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati has attributed the drought-like situation in Maharashtra due to the worship of the Shirdi Sai Baba by the state’s people.
He said, Calamity strikes where those unworthy of worship are worshipped. He has appealed to his followers to take down Sai Baba’s photographs and remove idols where Hindu deities are worshipped. He said, Sai Baba was a “fakir” and not a God, dubbed as “inauspicious”. He even quoted scriptures to corroborate his stand.
He also condemned the act of women entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani Shingnapur temple, saying “it will bring bad luck to them” and incident of rapes will increase if women enter Shani temple as Shani casts his vision.
