The suspense over the ruling NDA presidential candidate is done, Bihar Governor Ramnath Kovind has been declared as NDA’s candidate for president.
BJP president Amit Shah briefed the media in Delhi after BJP parliamentary board meeting.
Advocate by profession, Ramnath was elected to Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh during the two terms of 1994-2000 and 2000-2006. He hails from a poor family, noncontroversial and has a clean image in politics.
There was speculation in media that BJP senior leaders LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Sushma swaraj, Sumitra Mahajan were in the race for NDA presidential candidate. But NDA has surprised by announcing Ramnath’s name.
