Rajinikanth breaks silence on TN theaters shutdown

Breaking his silence on the indefinite shutdown launched by the theater owners, Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth today urged the Tamil Nadu government not to levy 30 percent local tax on cinema halls.

He tweeted, Keeping in mind the livelihood of Lakhs of people in the Tamil film industry, I sincerely request the TN GOVT to seriously consider our plea.

Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors Association president Abhirami Ramanathan today said that this double taxation is making things hard for the Kollywood industry.
