Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday promised that granting special status would be the first task of the government of Congress and its allies in 2019.
In 2019 when Congress and its allies will come to power then their government will ensure special status is given to Andhra Pradesh. Ex-PM Manmohan Singh promised that he will give special status to Andhra Pradesh as he wanted to make Andhra Pradesh country’s most important state and he also wanted the Central Government to help immensely in this matter.
Andhra Pradesh would have benefited with more than Rs. 1,000 crore with special status. Modi promised Andhra Pradesh in front of the Tirupati temple that he will give 10-year special status to the state, but turned back.
He said, Modi has pressured Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and both had compromised with the Centre over the issue.
He also alleged that Chandrababu Naidu entered into a deal with the present government under which the state government will construct the project. This is because if the government of India spends the money to build this project, nobody will get a commission.
