Indian shuttler PV Sindhu created history by winning a silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016 here at Riocentro Pavilion.
Sindhu lost to world number one Carolina Marin of Spain in the gold medal match. Sindhu won the first set and lost the second and third sets .
Sindhu won the first game by 21-19, in the second and third sets Carolin bounced backed to win over sindhu by 21-16 and 21-15 respectively.
The Hyderabad girl became the first shuttler to win a silver medal in the Olympics, bettering Saina Nehwal’s previous best, who won a bronze at London Olympics 2012.
Sindhu is the 5th Indian woman in Olympic history to win a medal after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik
