Power traffic raise issue

All opposition parties including TDP, TRS, BJP, YSRCP and left parties today strongly condemned the Government’s proposal to increase the power tariff and warned of strong protests at sub-stations if the proposal was effected. The power distribution companies (DISCOMS) have proposed to increase the power tariff by imposing a burden of around Rs 13,000 crores on various categories of consumer from April 1,2013. CPI (M) activists burnt an effigy of ‘state government’ at RTC ‘X’ roads in the city in protest against the proposed power hike. Hundreds of activists led by CPM leader Y Venkateswara Rao took out rally and burnt an effigy of state government demanding to take back the decision. Government’s decision to increase power tariff would be a ‘back-breaking’ burden on the common man, the CPM leader said.
