Police bans pillion riding in city
In view of the communal violence in some areas of the old city, the Hyderabad City Police imposed certain regulations on the movement of people on two wheelers during night.
In an order, City Police Commissioner AK Khan has prohibited pillion riding on two wheelers, except when the pillion rider is a woman or a child below the age of 14 years in the limits of Hyderabad City. The order will remain in force between 2300 hours and 0600 hours on the intervening nights of Monday-Tuesday to until further orders, according to a police release here. Any person requiring exemption from the above order may obtain specific permission from the SHOs of the Police Station having jurisdiction in writing by producing copies of Driving License and Registration Certificate book, the commissioner said, adding any person violating the above orders would be liable for prosecution under the law.
