PCC President demands apology from TDP Chief

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Botsa Satyanarayana today demanded an apology from TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, who had reportedly compared people of Vizianagaram district with the people of Pakistan. Talking to reporters here, Mr Botcha said TDP had been making objectionable remarks against the Congress leaders and people of Vizianagaram district after he was denied permission by the police to hold dharna against liquor syndicate in Vizianagaram.

Denying Naidu’s allegations that the Congress party was trying to stop the Telugu Desam Party from holding protest in Vizianagaram district, against liquor mafia, he claimed that the Congress party had applied for permission to hold protests from April 21 to 23 against the involvement of TDP leaders in the liquor syndicate.

The TDP leaders approached the local police on April 15 seeking permission to hold protest on the same dates, he said, adding the TDP leaders deliberately tried to sabotage Congress protest by applying for the same dates. The Vizianagaram had been the most peaceful district in the State and the TDP was trying to disturb the law and order situation in the district, he alleged. When asked about the by-elections to be held in 18 Assembly seats in the state, Mr Botcha said the list of Congress candidates would be announced soon after getting approval from the High Command.
