Passport, related services fee to be Hiked from Oct 1

In exercise of the powers conferred by the Passports Act, 1967, the Central government has decided to revise passport and related services fees with effect from October 1 this year while the current fees were last fixed in March, 2002. As per the revision, the passport fee is being increased by Rs 500 raising to Rs 1500 for normal applications and by Rs 1000 raising to Rs 3500 for Tatkal applications while citizens living abroad, the revised fee would be USD 75.00 (from 40.00) and Euro 60.00 (from 48.00) for normal applications, PIB said in a release here today. During the last few years, the Ministry has been engaged in comprehensive reforms in delivery of passport services as envisioned under passport seva project – a citizen-centric e-Governance initiative as part of the National e-Governance plan. Under the Project, the Ministry has already set up all planned 77 Passport Seva kendras across the county, the release added.
