Pakistani spy arrested and High Commission staffer told to leave India

pak-spyMinistry of External Affairs (MEA) has summoned Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit over ceasefire violations.

Two Indians were arrested by Delhi Police crime branch on spying charges. Delhi Court has sent both Pakistani spies arrested by Delhi police to 12 days police remand. While the Pakistan High Commission official Mehmood Akhtar who was detained by Delhi Police crime branch over espionage charges, has been told to leave the country in 48 hours. Mehmood Akhtar was intercepted by Delhi police yesterday while he was receiving sensitive documents pertaining to national security of India.

Mehmood Akhtar stated that he had joined Baloch regiment of Pak army in 1997, came on deputation to ISI in 2013. Infact, it was Mehmood Akhtar who resorted to subterfuge by concealing his real identity. Mehmood Akhtar was posted in Sep 2013 to Pak High Commission, where he’s currently working. He even carried fake Aadhaar card.When Mehmood Akhtar was handed over to the Pak High Commissioner in the presence of MEA official, he himself said he was treated well-Swarup.
