Padmavati completely banned in four states

padmavatiAfter meeting with Rajput leaders including the members of Karni Sena, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan banned the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati in the state.

Padmavati features Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranvir Singh leading the cast, it is made with a huge budget and the film is based on the life of Rajput Maharani Padmini.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said that the film is distorted the history and they will not accept it for release in the state.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference party leader Devender Singh Rana wrote to the state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti seeking a ban on the film.

Padmavati is now completely banned in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. While BJP’S Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi writes to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh requesting him to allow Padmavati to release only after it has been shown to members of Mewar’s royal family and historians and they have agreed to it. Also adds that the film to be banned if they object to it after the screening.

In fact, the ‘Padmavati’ was supposed to come before the audience on December 1. However, the censor formalities are not completed and the release was postponed.
