Only grants but No Special status to AP

naidu-modiAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met the Prime minister Narendra Modi for the special statues of Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu – Modi meeting went for over 1.5 hours to discuss about the difficulties that are being encountered in finances, institutions, lack of infrastructure, on the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act . He also discussed about need for Special Category Status, explaining how it has become an emotive issue.

Naidu has  been assured by the PM that all commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act will be honoured. Modi has directed the NITI Aayog to prepare a roadmap to fulfill the commitments made in the Act. However, Naidu did not get a concrete assurance from the Prime Minister over special category status to the state.  Instead, PM infomed  Naidu that, granting special status is not possible at all.

Naidu met Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Jaitley and Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu before meeting Modi.
