Contrary to the initial reports, Racha is going great guns at the box office. It is already officiallyannounced that it secured a place in top five all time commercial hits.According to official figures, collections from others states contributed bigtime for the movie’s success. As KFCC(Karnataka FilmChamber of Commerce) can no longer restrict the number of prints with which non-Kannada films could be released in the State, Racha has been able to mop up something like Rs. 15 cr in K’nataka, where the film was released in more than 100 screens.Going by the figures, it even crossed the TFI’s highest grosser Magadheera. Now here comes the interesting debate.
NTR is always considered No.1 hero on Karnataka (from Tollywood). All his previous hits scored significant significant figures in neighbor state.Dammu’s producer has rightly decided to go for a big release, with at least 150 prints. This might translate into a very huge margin of profit for the NTR-starrer.With Gabbar Singh set to release in the second week of may, Dammu has ample amount of time to strike gold at the box office in the state.Considering star stature of NTR in Karnataka, trade experts opine that movie will establish new records in the state.
“Though Racha is below average in content, just because of the right timing movie enjoyed dream run at boxoffice. Now that Dammu is giving positive vibes and it is aiming even bigger release , it would be ice on the cake for NTR to erase Ram Charan’s record.”said a trade expert. We have to wait for another few days to check whether Ram Charan will secure the record for some more time.
