Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu addressing the state legislative council admitted that he has no other alternative but to welcome Centre’s announcement of granting special package to the state.
He said, He has welcomed the package as the state is facing a financial crisis and at such a time it is not advisable to refuse what the Centre has offered. He said, He has agreed to take the Special Package for the sake of the people.
He has made it clear that he is not going to compromise on the interests of the state. He assured that “there is no going back on the demand to accord Special category Status to the state” by the Centre.
He said, Polavaram Irrigation project stood to get maximum benefit as the Centre had promised to foot 70 per cent the cost of the project. He advised the opposition to first go through the package in detail and proceed further as where the state interests are compromised.
