‘INHS Kalyani’, the Hospital of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) will celebrate its Golden Jubilee on May 18, marking its service to the nation and Defence personnel here. Addressing a press conference today, Surgeon Commodore VSSR Ryali, Commanding Officer ‘INHS Kalyani’ recounted how set up with 60 beds, the hospital had grown to be the second largest of Indian Navy. During the last five decades, modernisation and quality health care has resulted in setting up facilities like two Intensive Care Units (ICU), a ceramics laboratory in the Dental Centre unit and a rest house for relatives of patients.
The ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, Modular Operation Theatres, a 16 slice multi-detector CT scan and a Special Care Ward to manage unforeseen radiation injuries makes it the only Armed Forces Hospital with such facilities, he said. Mr Ryali said on the momentous occasion, INHS Kalyani stands on the threshold of transformation into a 604-bed, tertiary care Command Hospital with ten super-specialty centres. ENC Command Medical Officer Pavan Sarin recalled the services rendered by the Hospital to people and its services durubg disasters.
