National Highways blockade by TJAC
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) today announced that it would fully support the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) programme of blocking the major National Highway (NH-7) passing through telangana region as part of its plans to step up the movement seeking statehood to the region.
Announcing this to newsmen here after holding a state executive meeting at TRS Bhavan,chaired by TRS Supremo K Chandrasekhara Rao, TRS politburo member Nayanee Narasimha Reddy called upon its cadre to participate in the blockade programme by bringing vehicular traffic to a standstill for about 24 hours. He said the Palamuru district leaders and workers of the party should participate in a big way for making the programme a big success.
The Telangana JAC had decided the programme and also the NH-9 blockade programme on March 2 at its marathon extended executive committee meeting held here on sunday last. However, Mr Reddy said the TRS President told the party leaders in the meeting that it would urge the T-JAC to postpone the March 2 blockade programme with out citing the reason. The Telangana JAC had said the activists will stay put on the National Highways at selected points to prevent any movement of traffic by holding meetings and cultural programmes. He said the TRS predicted of an early general election this year instead the election be held in May 2014.
