National Anthem not compulsory in cinema Halls

rp_jana-gana-mana-cinema-300x169-1-300x169-300x169.jpgNational Anthem is no longer compulsory before a film starts in theatres in India. The Supreme Court modified its earlier order and made it optional for the cinema halls to play the national anthem.

While the Cinema hall owners across India have said they will continue to play National Anthem despite the recent Supreme Court order. The Supreme Court said the playing of the national anthem must be left to the discretion of the cinema owners.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi welcome the order of the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud gave such orders hearing of a petition seeking provision of punishment for disobeying the National Anthem
