Prime Minister Narendra Modi today retraced Mahatma Gandhi’s train journey in South Africa as he travelled to a railway station associated with ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi’s Life, on his second day tour in SA.
Narendra Modi visited Pietermaritzburg Railway Station and the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was offloaded from the train.
He got into the train in which Gandhi travelled ,Remembering a memorable journey of the great Mahatma, which altered the course of human history. Modi visited Phoenix Settlement, which is
very closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi.
Prime Minister joined a Civic Reception at Durban City Hall hosted by the High Commissioner & Mayor of Durban.
Yesterday at Constitution Hill he met those who worked closely with Madiba & who dedicated their entire life in ensuring the end of apartheid & ushering a free & just SA. He met Dr. Ahmed Kathrada – a hero & a great source of inspiration. He also met Mr. Laloo ‘Isu’ Chiba, who spent 18 years on Robben Island. His efforts ensured that Madiba’s work could be read by the entire work
He met Dr. Essop Pahad ,His father Mr. Goolam Pahad was active in the South African struggle. He met Mr. George Bizos the one who campaigned that apartheid is exemplary. He met Mr. Ronnie
