Not denying directly that he was in the race for the post of party’s National President, BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said he would accept any responsibility if given by the party.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Naidu said the BJP was in favour of promoting the young blood leadership in the party. He said he felt honoured after he was made party President earlier. It may be mentioned that the term of Nitin Gadkari, who took over as party President on December 19, 2009, has been cleared to lead the party till January 2013.
Following charges of corruption against Gadkari, the party is likely to elect a new national President next month. Reacting over Modi’s victory in Gujarat election results, Mr Naidu said Narendra Modi was able to defeat not only the Congress party, but its larger conspiracies hatched on the basis of money and political power.
