Nagender hisses at Iskcon, temple locked

Khairatabad MLA and Labour Minister Danam Nagender known for his rowdyism created a historic mistake by locking the Lord Krishna’s temple today hurting feelings of Hindu’s, he created a mythological ‘prison’ for Krishna, on the eve of the Lord’s birthday. Friday is Sri Krishna Janmshtami, celebrated as the God’s birthday.

After receiving some complaints from the local people, the Minister, along with his supporters, “raided” the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) temple in Banjara Hills, allegedly abused the temple officials of misbehaving with local women, carrying out illegal activities and directed them to vacate the place at the earliest.

While his band of followers prevented the priests from performing the rituals, damaged the generator and furniture, uprooted the “sacred Tulasi” plant on the premises and threw it outside, the Minister became a law unto himself and locked the main entrance of the temple for more than two hours.

When the local police officials tried to pacify the Minister and his rabble, the Minister hurled invectives and abused them. They were even warned by the Minister not to interfere in the matter. “Can they enter a mosque? Their duty is outside and should not enter the temple premises,” a visibly annoyed Nagender said.

The Iskcon management, which condemned the Minister’s behavior, said that they were puzzled at the developments which came a day before Janmashtami.

As a leader, he was supposed to ensure peace and settle the issue amicably by talking to both sides but he has been using brutal force to silence the staff. “There is no basis in the allegations leveled against us,” temple president said.
