Former Excise and Prohibition Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao today filed a petition in CBI Special Court seeking bail in the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy. Admitting the petition, the special court posted the petition for hearing on Friday. He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on May 25.
It may be recalled that the State Government has recently extended legal aid to five Ministers and IAS officials who received notices from the Supreme Court in connection with issue of controversial 26 GOs, which allegedly favoured Jagan Mohan Reddy to accumulate alleged illegal wealth. As per the GO, the government would bear the expenditure incurred under legal assistance to Ministers and IAS officials. However, Mopidevi’s name was not included the list.
