Former Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao surrendered before the CBI special court after his ten-day interim bail granted to him for Sabarimala visit ended today. As soon as the former Minister surrendered, the court extended his remand till tomorrow. The CBI court had earlier granted interim bail to Mopinent, an accused in disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, to enable him to go on Sabarimala pilgrimage. The court allowed Mopidevi an interim bail from December 24 to January 2. He went on his own expenses along with a CBI constable for escort. Mopidevi, who is under judicial remand and lodged in Chanchalguda jail since his arrest by CBI on May 24, had earlier moved the court stating he was in Ayyappa Diksha and required to go to Sabarimala for darshan of Lord Ayyappa.
