Missing student found dead in USA

Harsha Maddula, 18, was found dead Thursday night in the Wilmette Harbor.  The Northwestern University student had been missing since Friday night, when he was last seen with some friends after an off-campus party.

A fisherman found Maddula’s body floating near some boats Thursday. His ID card and cell phone were found on the body. There were no signs of foul play on the body, reports Alan Cubbage, VP of university relations at Northwestern. His cause of death is under investigation.

Northwestern’s president Morton Schapiro said in a statement: “On behalf of Northwestern University, I extend our deepest sympathies to Harsha’s family and to his many friends at Northwestern. Our hearts and thoughts are with them. The loss of one member of the Northwestern community deeply affects us all.”

Maddula was a pre-med student from Long Island, N.Y. His family flew out to Evanston, to help the search and has put up a $25,000 reward for information on his whereabouts.
