mangalampalli-balamuralikrishnaVeteran Carnatic musician Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna passes away at the age of 86 in Chennai.

Balamurali Krishna was a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, playback singer, composer, and actor. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, for his contribution towards Indian Art.

Born in 1938 at Sankaraguptam, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh state.  At the age of eight, Balamuralikrishna gave his first full-fledged concert at a Thyagaraja Aradhana, Vijayawada. he has given over 25,000 concerts worldwide including the US, Canada, UK, Italy, France, Russia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Middle East and much more.

Balamuralikrishna has composed over 400 compositions in various languages like Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannada, and Tamil.

He was awarded Padma Vibhushan,Padma Bhushan,Padma Shri and Chevalier Rank Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government (2005).
