Medak district of Telangana went for a shutdown with the bandh call given by the Opposition parties in protest against the police lathicharge on Mallanna sagar land oustees.
Congress, TDP, BJP, CPI and CPI (M)called for a bandh condemning the police action on people who are facing submergence due to Mallanna Sagar project .
Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M. Kodandaram was also held who was heading to Medak to express solidarity against the Mallanna Sagar irrigation project.
Telangana Irrigation minister Harish Rao said that all party meet calling for a bandh in Medak district is a total failure as people didn’t support them. He said Opposition parties are Provoking the farmers and deliberately hurdling the process of taking up the project, for political mileage.
Telangana TDP working president Revanth Reddy alleged that Telangana government is trying illegal means to seize the land of the farmers in the name of project. TDP’s Revanth Reddy arrested at Hansel and shifted to Daulatabad police station in Dubbak constituency. While Congress announced “Chalo Mallanna Sagar “Program on 26th july.
