YSR Congress Party honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma on Sunday said her party would raise the demand for jobs to fishermen affected by industrial pollution in the NTPC Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant, in the coming session of Assembly.
Expressing solidarity with agitating fishermen during her visit to Tikkavanipalem, three days after CISF personnel opened fire on protesters, she blamed the NTPC management for launching work on the second seawater pump house pipeline without taking the villagers into confidence.
Ms. Vijayamma said her son and Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy was shocked on seeing news reports on injury caused to several fishermen on June 28 in stone-pelting and police lathicharge. She said her party is against establishment of any project in the coastal area without obtaining mandate from local fishermen and taking up a comprehensive rehabilitation and resettlement policy for project-affected people.
While TDP laughs for Ms.Vijayamma ignorance as most of the coastal area was given in YS.Rajashekar Reddy regime thus affecting the fishermen and poor farmers in those areas.
